ROCHESTER CITY BALLET TO PERFORM PETER AND THE WOLF
Prokofiev’s Classic Ballet Is Sure To Delight Young Audiences

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City Ballet (RCB) announces that they will once again perform Sergei Prokofiev’s children’s classic, Peter and The Wolf February 10 and 11, 2007 at the Monroe Community College Theatre, located on the Brighton campus. Tickets for this year’s performances will go on sale January 5, 2007.

Peter and The Wolf is the perfect way to introduce children to the arts,” said RCB artistic director Jamey Leverett. “The way the dancers use movement and music to personify their characters paired with costumes such as the Wolf, the Bird and the Cat really engage and excite young audience members.”

Performances begin at 2 p.m. each day and audience members are invited to enjoy pre-performance activities beginning at 1:15 p.m.  Children and their parents can enjoy face painting, take in dance demonstrations by Rochester City Ballet company members and learn more about how the music and choreography of Peter and The Wolf were created specifically for children.

The cast includes Rochester City Ballet company members Gabriel Davidsson (Brighton) as Peter, Jordan Drew (Penfield) as the Wolf, Megan Kamler (Irondequoit) as the Bird, Brittany Shinay (Pittsford) as the Duck, and Kaitlin Fitzgerald (Canandaigua) as the Cat.  Fidel Orrillo, RCB ballet master, will perform the role of Grandfather, and Kirsten Schwartz (Pittsford), Courtney Catalana (Pittsford), Katie Keifer (Walworth), Beth Rodbell (Pittsford), Sarah Hillmon (Pittsford) and Caitlin Schwartz (Pittsford) will dance as Hunters.

Tickets for Peter and The Wolf are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Rochester City Ballet at 585-461-5850.  The Monroe Community College Theatre is located in Building 4 on the Brighton campus.

The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation. The Company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances.  The RCB has created at least 20 new ballets including Firebird, Don Quixote, Cinderella and the annual Nutcracker
