Rochester City Ballet Reveals a Raw New Performance
-Raw, Real and Revealed to be Staged at Nazareth College -

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –Expect the unexpected as the Rochester City Ballet is exposed like never before in their presentation of Raw, Real and Revealed. This innovative program showcases a variety of new and contemporary works.

True to its title, Raw, Real and Revealed provides an intimate look at the creative process and highlights the passion and artistry that define Rochester City Ballet. Leverett will take the stage to offer insight and a virtual backstage pass to the audience with brief, personal descriptions of each piece. “I’ll have an open discussion about choreography, my creative process and, along with verbal audience participation, I will create a few dance phrases right on the spot,” Leverett explained.

Composer Stephen Kennedy is collaborating with Leverett to create a unique piece of music and dance that will premier during the production of Raw, Real & Revealed. Leverett is choreographing movement to a new piece from Kennedy and in a twist on the conventional Kennedy is composing music to accompany choreography Leverett developed in silence.

Also participating in this program is lutenist Deborah Fox, who will accompany RCB company members as they perform Leverett’s untitled work, created to 16th century lute music. In addition, one of Leverett’s earlier works, entitled Overtones, will be performed during the program, showcasing the evolution of her choreography and creative process.

Raw, Real and Revealed is a sneak peek into the mind of an artist, delivering an intriguing night of music and dance. Performances at the Nazareth College Arts Center’s Callahan Theatre are scheduled for Friday, February 1st at 7pm and Saturday, February 2nd at 3pm. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling the Nazareth College Arts Center box office at 585-389-2170.

The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation.
